I’m thrilled to welcome Vinay Iyengar as the newest Investor to the Two Sigma Ventures team.
He’ll be joining me as part of building our West Coast team based in San Francisco. As we continue to build our team, we have sought to add talented and ambitious colleagues who push us to think in new ways and bring new energy to our firm. We think Vinay fits this description perfectly. Like many members of the Two Sigma Ventures family, Vinay’s background is first and foremost as a technologist and a builder. He has spent time over the years as a math researcher, software engineer, and entrepreneur, and shares a deep empathy with founders solving technical problems.
Most recently, Vinay was an investor at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he focused on early and growth-stage investments in enterprise software, machine learning, marketplaces, and developer tools. As we got to know Vinay, he continued to stand out and impress us with his humility, maturity, and thoughtfulness. He is deeply committed to serving mission-driven founders and helping them build the next generation of great technology startups. We are also excited about his work to advance diversity and inclusion in the startup ecosystem (including launching the Bessemer Fellowship Program), and we are thrilled to support his work and passion at Two Sigma Ventures.

The venture business is all about people, and every conversation I had made it abundantly clear that this is an incredibly talented, humble, and thoughtful team with a deep commitment to doing right by the founders they work with. There are certain people and entrepreneurs that you know you want to work with when you meet, and that was the impression I had after every conversation. I couldn’t be more excited to work with and learn from this team as I embark on the next chapter of my career.
Moreover, I strongly believe that the next generation of legendary businesses will be built by leveraging data science and advanced engineering. With Two Sigma’s core expertise and 19 years of experience in these areas, I believe we’re uniquely positioned to partner with founders capitalizing on this shift.
