Edward joined Two Sigma in 2001, and continues to shape and lead a number of successful and innovative global research efforts as Managing Director of R&D. Edward also serves as a venture partner at Two Sigma Ventures, where he helps source and evaluate potential investments and advises on fund strategy. An area of particular interest to him is the application of data, technology, and evidence to optimize outcomes in healthcare.
Edward began his career as a co-founder of Hungary’s first commercial Internet service provider in 1994. Following the acquisition of that business by Magyar Telekom in 1996, he joined D. E. Shaw & Co. in London to direct research into novel quantitative investment strategies. He later moved to the firm’s New York office and then returned to the technology field in 2000 as an angel investor and director of business development for Vindigo, an early provider of location-based content for mobile devices.
Edward graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a dual degree in Honors Mathematics and English Literature. He currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Museum of Mathematics in New York City.
